“Our office allows us to sell candies or treats for fundraising purposes. I purchased various items and then sold them at work for $1.00 a bar/bag or 4 for $1.00 depending on what the treat was.”

Patti Fink, Team MES

“Every Fall and Spring I divide my perennials, dig up my seedlings and have a plants fundraiser. I usually just ask for donations in exchange for the plants, rather than set a price. I find I raise more money from donations than sales. The fundraiser does not cost me anything since the plants and seedlings come right out of my garden.”

Ellen Callahan,Team Callahan Sisters

“We begin selling 'Flavor Ice' popsicles a couple of months before the Komen Global Race for the Cure®. This past year, Team Jefferson raised $2,192 for the Komen Global Race.”

Sandy Tevelin,Team Jefferson

“[We hosted] a karaoke event!. Singers pay to sing and audience pays for someone to sing; if the person does not want to sing, they have to pay to not sing! This was successful along with a 50/50 drawing. We raised more than $450 this past year!”

Estelle Miller, the National Academies

"We raised more than $7,000 through a series of office-based events centered around the following:

  • Loose Change: Bring in your loose change and sign a company card. Sign in and 'be counted.'

  • Sweets: Office-based bake sale. We accepted donations for baked goods, and raffled off ($1/ticket) high-end breads and cakes.

  • Casual Dress: Allowed staff the opportunity to contribute $5 and wear casual dress on a designated Friday."

Jennifer McNelly, Team National Association of Manufacturers

“I have a flyer, as well as a Web site, with a picture of Mara, my daughter who died, It includes a brief story of who she was, what she did in life and how she died, followed by an explanation of how and why supporting the Susan G. Komen Global Promise Fund is important to keeping her memory and work alive by meeting the goals she set in life for helping women in developing countries with breast cancer around the world.”

Carol Popper Galaty, The Mara Fund benefitting the Komen Global Promise Fund

“I make pink ribbons out of construction paper and sell them at work for people to either put up in their offices or decorate my 'Pink Cave' with. This year I raised more than $200!”
