On the day my 25 year-old sister Heather, learned that she had breast cancer, I made a promise to her that I would not stop fighting until there was a cure for breast cancer. Heather passed away 17 months later. That was almost 11 years ago. Since then, I have been passionately involved in the Komen Global Race for the Cure, as captain of a team named for my sister in order to give meaning to Heather's death.

You can run or walk the 5K or the one-mile route, or if you can’t make it to Washington, D.C. on June 2, register to Sleep In for the Cure^®. Kids ages 5 to 12 can register as Kids for the Cure^® and participate in their own special race and activities. If you prefer to work behind-the-scenes, you can be one of our all-star volunteers.

Your Impact
One of the best ways to impact the global movement to end breast cancer forever is to fundraise for Susan G. Komen for the Cure^® as part of your participation in the Komen Global Race.

Up to 75 percent of the Komen Global Race’s net income stays in the Washington, D.C. area to fund breast cancer screening, treatment and education programs through the National Capital Area Grants Program. The remaining 25 percent supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Global Promise Fund, a program dedicated to sharing knowledge and experience, and to funding education and breast health services in regions where few exist.
