On the day my 25 year-old sister Heather, learned that she had breast cancer, I made a promise to her that I would not stop fighting until there was a cure for breast cancer. Heather passed away 17 months later. That was almost 11 years ago. Since then, I have been passionately involved in the Komen Global Race for the Cure, as captain of a team named for my sister in order to give meaning to Heather's death.

We honor and celebrate our courageous breast cancer survivors, who inspire us to continue the fight to end breast cancer forever. New! View the photos from the 2011 Survivor Tent photobooth.

All breast cancer survivors (who indicate as such at the time of registration) will receive a special pink Race bib as well as a pink Race T-shirt and hat compliments of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA).

ZTA will also provide special pink “In Honor Of” back signs that friends and family can wear on Race Day to show their support of you!

On Race Day, survivors will be:

Welcomed into the Survivor Tent to enjoy light refreshments before the Race and pick up a special Survivor goody bag compliments of Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Awarded a special Race medal.
Invited to participate in a special honorary ceremony before the Race begins.
Invited back to the Survivor Tent for post-race activities.
