  1. How do I register for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure?
    Click on Register to get to the online registration form. The first step is to select whether you want to register as an individual or form (or join) a team. Then you will need to select your participation type before continuing with the rest of the form. Note that if you already have a contact record in the Komen for the Cure database, you must log in with your username and password before registering. Don't know your username and/or password? Click here to have it emailed to you. If you have problems registering online, please call the Global Race for the Cure Staff at 703.416.7223.
  2. Is there a fundraising requirement?
    No, but we encourage everyone to raise at least $125. Last year, participants who fundraised brought in an average of $191 each. Once you’ve hit your fundraising goal - set a new one. You begin earning fundraising rewards once you’ve raised your first $50.  With our fundraising tools, downloads and workshops - we know you can do it! However, if you fall short of your goal, we will still happily welcome you on the event. Learn how easy it is to start fundraising.
  3. How long is the Race?
    The Race is a 5K route, which is approximately 3.1 miles. There is also a 1-mile route. You may choose to walk or run either route.
  4. How are the fundraising proceeds used?
    Up to 75 percent of the Komen Global Race’s net income stays in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to fund local screening, treatment and education programs for the medically underserved through the National Capital Area Grant Program. The remaining dollars support the Global Promise Fund, a program of Susan G. Komen for the Cure dedicated to reaching underserved people in areas where breast cancer mortality rates are the highest.     Click on Donate and search by their first or last name.
  6. Why is the “Donate” search not finding a participant I'm looking for?
    If you are not entering the name exactly the way it appears in our database the search will yield no results. Try entering just the first few letters of the participant's name to get more results.
  7. Where should I mail donation checks?
    All check donations must be attached to a donation form and should be mailed to the address listed on the donation form.
  8. Where do I get a donation form?
    Individual donation forms for the 2010 Komen Global Race will be available soon. Please check back. Team members may print a team donation form here. Please log in to your Participant Center to find your Team Code and write it on the form. 
  9. Who should I make my check out to?
    Please make all checks payable to: Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure.
  10. Are donations tax-deductible in the United States?
    Yes. All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by United States law.
  11. Do donations made to Global Race for the Cure qualify for tax deductions in other countries?
    Donations made to Global Race for the Cure may not qualify for tax deductions in other countries. Please check with a tax professional for laws specific to your country.
  12. Are registration fees tax-deductible?
    No. Registration fees are not tax-deductible.

  14. Are there volunteer opportunities for groups? How do we register as a group?
    We welcome all groups who want to help - both before the event and on Race Day. The first step is to fill out our Volunteer Information Form. If you have a large group and you would like to be kept together on Race Day, you can let us know when you sign up for a specific volunteer opportunity.
  15. If I don’t participate in the event, what happens to the money I have raised?
    All donations to the Komen Global Race for the Cure are non-transferable and non-refundable. If you are unable to participate in the event, your donations cannot be refunded nor can they be transferred to another participant. Your donations will go directly to the cause as if you had participated, and we hope your donors will appreciate supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure regardless of your participation in the actual event.
  16. How do I join or form a team?
    If you haven't registered for the Komen Global Race for the Cure yet, you may register online and select “Start a Team” or "Join a Team." Search for the name of the team you want to join and select it. If you are already registered for the Komen Global Race, you need to contact a staff member if you want to form or join a team. Participants may form or be added to a team by sending their name and the name of the team to: info@globalraceforthecure.org or by calling 703.416.7223.
  17. Where can I get Komen Global Race for the Cure brochures and posters?
    Brochures and posters for the 2010 Komen Global Race will be available soon. Please check back.
  18. How will I receive my Event Kit with t-shirt?
    Event Kits will be mailed directly to the address used to register. We will not bundle team Event Kits. For further Event Kit questions, please call the Global Race staff at 703.416.7223.
  19. I can no longer participate. May I transfer my registration to someone else?
    Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, even if you are unable to participate on Race Day.
  20. How do I volunteer for the event?
    If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out our Volunteer Interest form. There is no registration fee.
  21. What if it rains?
    The event will happen rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
  22. Will my participation in the Race be timed?
    Only those who register as a runner will receive a timing chip in their Event Kit. An additional $5 timing chip fee is included in the $45 runner registration fee.
  23. Are pets and strollers allowed on the event?
    Pets are prohibited from the event, but strollers are permitted.
  24. What should I bring to the event?
    We suggest that you bring:
    - water bottle
    - comfortable shoes
    - appropriate clothing for weather
    - any additional donations
  25. How should I plan to get to the Komen Global Race for the Cure?
